Four local football players were honored by the California Interscholastic Federation for their athletic contributions this fall.
Three members of the Santa Monica football team -- Corde Sweets, Terrance Jackson and Moala Wolfgramm -- earned all-CIF Southern Section recognition in the Western Division.
Sweets, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior who made the squad as a defensive back, logged 22 tackles and four interceptions this past season. He also caught 21 passes for 559 yards and seven touchdowns.
Jackson, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound senior, made the all-CIF roster as a defensive lineman. He recorded 78 tackles, including 50 solo takedowns, and also tallied 15 sacks.
Wolfgramm, a 6-foot-1, 240-pound senior, was recognized as an offensive lineman.
Sweets, Jackson and Wolfgramm led the Vikings to a 5-6 overall record and a 3-2 mark in Ocean League play.
Palos Verdes produced the division's all-CIF offensive player of the year (quarterback Steven Delcarson), the defensive player of the year (defensive end Connor Markley) and the coach of the year (Guy Gardner).
Meanwhile, in the East Valley Division, St. Monica Catholic's Andrew Saucedo garnered all-CIF honors as an offensive lineman. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound senior also had 14 tackles, a sack and a blocked field goal while helping the Mariners to a 5-5 record and a third-place finish in the Santa Fe League with a 2-2 mark.
San Juan Capistrano-St. Margaret's Episcopal produced the division's offensive player of the year (running back Oscar Gomez), the defensive player of the year (linebacker Dalan Cragun) and the coach of the year (Stephen Barbee).
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Santa Monica setter Blossom Sato earned all-CIF honors in Division 3AA girls volleyball.
The senior racked up 456 assists, 66 digs, 46 kills and 21 total blocks as she led the Vikings to the quarterfinals of the Southern Section playoffs.
Newport Coast-Sage Hill outside hitter Halland McKenna was named player of the year and Sage Hill's Dan Thomassen was recognized as coach of the year.
Senior outside hitter Anna McCall, meanwhile, represented the St. Monica girls volleyball team as a member of the all-CIF Southern Section squad in Division 5A.
The player of the year (Emily Curtain) and coach of the year (Steven Rutz) both hail from Twin Peaks-Lake Arrowhead Christian.
BOYS WATER POLO
Santa Monica junior Jackson Kennedy highlighted local accomplishments in the water, making the 13-member all-CIF Southern Section team in Division 4 boys water polo.
Kennedy led the Vikings to their third-consecutive Ocean League title this fall, when they reached the section quarterfinals.
Santa Maria-Righetti produced the player of the year (Lukas Sheckherd) and the coaches of the year (Kyle Shaffer and Rob Knight).
