CITYWIDE — An impressive four Santa Monica-based teams will vie for girls' basketball glory during this year's CIF-Southern Section playoffs.
Three even find themselves seeded as the postseason begins on Thursday.
Pacifica Christian enjoys the best seeding of the bunch. The Seawolves are No. 4 in Division 5A.
Pacifica Christian finished the regular season as the second place team from the Liberty League. The first test for the Seawolves comes against Connelly, a team that enters the playoffs as an at-large bid from the San Joaquin League.
The game is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Milken Community High School.
St. Monica, a year removed from winning the Division 4A championship, earned the No. 6 seed in the field of 32 despite entering the playoffs as an at-large team from the Camino Real League.
The Mariners travel to St. Genevieve on Thursday at 7 p.m.
St. Genevieve finished the regular season second in the Santa Cruz League.
Also in Division 4A, Crossroads, the No. 12 seed, will host Ontario Christian, also on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Crossroads won the Delphic League title this season. Ontario Christian came in third in the Ambassador League.
After a season that saw New Roads finish third in the Coastal League, the Jaguars will host Holy Martyrs in a Division 5A matchup on Thursday at 7 p.m.
New Roads is unseeded. Holy Martyrs are the No. 6 seed.
