VALENCIA, Calif. — For three quarters, Santa Monica football looked like the Vikings may pull off an upset of Valencia. But, Samohi mistakes and strong play by Valencia dashed those hopes en route to a 41-21 loss for the Vikings on Friday on the road.
The game was tied 21-21 late in the third quarter, but that would be as close as Samohi would come to a surprise win. Valencia came into the game with a four-game winning streak over Samohi and continued that dominance, sending Samohi to 2-2 on the season.
Things don't get easier for Samohi next week as they host Hart. The game will be the third straight against a Southern California powerhouse. Last week saw the Vikings lose to Mater Dei. Friday's game takes place at Santa Monica College's Corsair Field. The game begins at 7 p.m. Hart enters 4-0 and ranked in the top 10 in a number of SoCal rankings.
