Santa Monica officials enacted a curfew of 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday, the fifth straight day that the city has ordered people not to travel in and out of or around the city.
Downtown parking structures will close after curfew, as will rideshare and scooter service into the city, according to a press release. Big Blue Bus will run normal weekday service, unlike during previous curfews over the last week.
The curfew aligns with a 6 p.m. curfew issued by Los Angeles County Wednesday morning to prevent protests against police violence, which have often been accompanied by property damage and looting.
Later Wednesday morning, L.A. County amended its curfew to 9 p.m.
Santa Monica's 6 p.m. curfew is several hours later than the mid-afternoon curfews it issued immediately following Sunday's protest and looting.
