PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Redmond O’Neal, the son of actor Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, was arrested Tuesday morning during a traffic stop in Santa Monica when heroin and marijuana were allegedly found in his car, a police official said.
O’Neal, 26, ran a red light while driving his 2010 Nissan Altima northbound on Lincoln Boulevard, said SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis.
An officer observed O’Neal turn left onto Olympic Boulevard against a red left-turn arrow around 8:15 a.m. Lewis said O’Neal admitted to officers that he was on probation and he consented to a search of his car, during which officers found heroin and pot.
O’Neal was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, a traffic violation and a probation violation. He was being held in the Santa Monica Jail without bail pending an appearance Thursday at the Airport Courthouse.
Last August, O’Neal graduated from a drug court program for a pair of drug-possession cases — one involving possession of heroin and methamphetamine and the other involving possession of methamphetamine.
He is still on probation, however, for his no-contest plea to a felony drug charge stemming from his arrest in a county jail parking lot in Castaic.
