Streets reopened after package scare
Published:

A section of the 3rd Street Promenade was closed for several hours Monday night as police are investigated a suspicious package on the 1400 block of the street.

SMPD received a call at about 5:30 p.m. from a witness who said they saw someone place a device resembling a pressure cooker into a trash can near the Urban Outfitters store.

Visitors were evacuated from the block and Broadway was closed between second and fourth streets while the bomb squad investigated. The device was brought back to the bomb squad truck and determined to be safe.

Officers said the street should be reopened by 10 p.m.
