Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 5:37 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers on routine patrol in the 600 block of Wilshire Boulevard noticed a suspicious man standing in front of a 7-Eleven. Officers were informed that the man may have a gun. Officers watched the suspect for a short time. The suspect allegedly looked like he was scanning the parking lot as if he planned to rob the convenience store. Officers approached the suspect and told him they were placing him under arrest for warrants that he had. The suspect allegedly became argumentative and uncooperative. As the suspect attempted to reach for his waistband, officers ordered him to stop. Officers searched the suspect and recovered a toy pistol. The suspect was placed under arrest for probable cause robbery and warrants. His bail was set at $51,250.
Saturday, Oct. 3, at 6:40 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 100 block of 18th Street regarding a disturbance. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim who said her boyfriend would not leave her residence. Officers discovered that the boyfriend damaged some of the woman’s belongings and the door to her home, police said. Officers detained the boyfriend as he was trying to leave the location in his vehicle. Officers felt the suspect was under the influence of some controlled substance. They conducted some sobriety tests and, based on statements made by the suspect, determined he was under the influence of methamphetamines. The suspect, Ronnie Palma, 41, of Santa Monica, was booked for felony vandalism, being under the influence and a probation violation. His bail was set at $20,000.
Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7:46 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2600 block of 17th Street regarding a fight. When officers arrived, they saw two people fighting. Officers were able to separate them and identify the victim and the suspect. The victim said that he confronted the suspect, an employee at a local business, for not paying his share of proceeds as agreed upon. The suspect allegedly became agitated and physically confronted the victim. The two began to fight. The suspect allegedly attempted to grab a knife. The victim was able to disarm the suspect and hold him until police arrived. The suspect was placed under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as Michael Lopez, 48, of Valinda. No bail was set.
Thursday, Oct. 1, at 1:05 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 900 block of 10th Street regarding a report of a burglary that just occurred. As officers drove to the scene they were advised that the victim was following the suspect. Officers located the suspect at 14th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard. During their investigation, officers were able to determine that the suspect was in possession of stolen property. Police said the suspect entered a subterranean garage and laundry room and removed items from vehicles and the laundry room. The suspect, identified as Melvin Thomas, 44, a transient, was booked for burglary and possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $50,000.
Thursday, Oct. 1, at 5:40 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 300 block of the Santa Monica Pier regarding a distraught female. When officers arrived, they made contact with a female that appeared to be upset. One of the officers said that when she contacted the individual, the woman threw two boxes into a trash can. Officers searched the trash and recovered the boxes, which were addressed to a residence in the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue. The boxes allegedly contained female clothing. The woman stated that a friend had given her the boxes. Officers went to the location where the boxes were supposed to be delivered. Officers were able to determine that the boxes had been delivered that day via Fed-Ex. The residence is a secured facility and can only be entered by using a key. The suspect was placed under arrest for burglary. She was identified as Juliette Suh, 24, of Los Angeles. Her bail was set at $50,000.
Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 1:10 a.m.,
Officers were patrolling the area of Ninth Street and Santa Monica Boulevard when they observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and slam on its brakes before committing a vehicle code violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver was impaired. Officers had the driver perform a series of sobriety tests. Upon completion, officers placed the suspect under arrest for DUI. The driver was identified as Daniel Mayhew, 32, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $15,000.
Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 12:03 p.m.,
Officers responded to the area near the corner of Ocean and Colorado avenues regarding a fight. When officers arrived, they located a witness who told them the victim was involved in a fist fight with three suspects when one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The suspect then gave the knife to another suspect as the victim fled. All three suspects were detained. They were identified as Jessie Williams, 21, a transient; Jeffrey Brown, 37, a transient; and Ryan Harper, 19, of Santa Monica. They were booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Their bail was set at $30,000.
Monday, Sept. 28, at 3:30 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Palisades Park regarding a report of counterfeiting. When officers arrived, they spotted a man believed to be involved in the counterfeit report. Officers made contact with the suspect and during a weapons search, officers discovered marijuana. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for possession. He was identified as Jonathan Stewart, 22, a transient. His bail was set at $75.
