A woman threatening to have a bomb triggered road closures and evacuations in Downtown Santa Monica on Thursday morning.
Officers from the Santa Monica Police Department and Los Angeles Sheriff's office said a woman drove up to a business on the 1500 block of Ocean Ave and announced she had a bomb in the car.
Santa Monica Police responded to the scene and closed several streets. Ocean Ave and Second Street was closed between Broadway and Pico. Shoppers inside Santa Monica Place were being kept inside the mall or diverted away from the Colorado/Second St. exits. The Big Blue Bus detoured Route 4, Route 9 and Route 3M around the area.
The Sheriff's bomb squad was called in to investigate and officers found no evidence of any explosives. The scene was cleared at about 12:30 p.m. Vehicles and pedestrians were allowed back into the area shortly thereafter.
The woman who made the threats was arrested.
