A man was stabbed to death on 5th Street yesterday and investigators are asking any potential witnesses to step forward to assist in the case.
Officers responded to a homicide call at Step Up on 5th (1548 5th St.) at about 4:30 a.m. on April 5. An unidentified adult male was found inside an apartment with a stab wound to the chest.
According to the Santa Monica Fire Department, paramedics were called to the scene at 4:34 a.m. and transported an adult male to UCLA Westwood Trauma Center in critical condition. Despite the efforts of doctors and paramedics, the man died later that morning.
Police officers arrested the apartment resident, Guillermo Guerrero, 40, and charged him with murder.
Investigators said there were several witnesses to the crime and the investigation is ongoing. SMPD said more details would be released when the case has concluded but in the meantime, officers would like to talk to anyone that has any information about the incident.
