A man has been arrested for stabbing an acquaintance at a local beach.
On April 17, at about 4:30 a.m., SMPD responded to a radio call of unknown trouble near Lot 1 South, near the Pier, which possibly involved car theft and stabbing.
Officers located the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of the freeway. The investigation revealed a stabbing victim in the vehicle and officers provided first aid until SMFD personnel arrived.
The suspect turned out to be the registered owner of the vehicle, and known to the victim. It appears the suspect, victim and two other friends drove from the Ventura County area to Santa Monica. At some point during their time here, the victim and suspect got into a verbal then physical altercation, when the suspect stabbed the victim.
Matthew Turner, 19, from Camarillo was located in the 1600 block of Ocean Front Walk. He was taken into custody without incident for attempted murder. The victim was transported to a local hospital with multiple stab wounds, were he was treated then discharged.
