Two men were killed Monday night in the parking lot of CVS near the intersection of Lincoln and Rose.
According to LAPD, the double murder occurred at about 9:10 p.m. on the 100 block of Lincoln. Officers responded to an Ambulance Shooting radio call and upon arrival, officers located two male adult victims with gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigation revealed both victims were standing in a parking lot when an unknown suspect approached them on foot and fired multiple rounds, striking both victims. The suspect fled the scene north on Lincoln Boulevard.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced one victim dead at scene. The other victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. It is unknown if this incident is gang related.
The murders capped a sad day for local emergency service providers as the Santa Monica Police Department responded to two morning calls for death investigations that day.
In the first case, detectives found a man dead in Virginia Ave. Park. In the second and elderly man was found dead on Stanford Street.
According to SMPD, Park Service Officers found a man unresponsive in the park at about 5:45 a.m. Officers located a handgun at the scene but the coroner’s office has not released details about the case or the cause of death.
“At this time, we do not believe anyone else is involved in this incident but we cannot give a cause of death because the coroner has not given us one,” said Lt. Joseph Cortez.
In the second case, officers were called to the 1000 block of Stanford Street at 8:48 a.m. Officers found a man in is 90’s who had died from natural causes. Cortez said the individuals was negative for COVID-19.
