On November 4, at 6:47 p.m.
Officers observed a male riding his bike on the sidewalk in the 300 block of Broadway. Officers activated their lights to conduct a traffic stop on the bicyclist for the municipal code violation when they noticed he removed an item from his front pant pocket and threw it into the street. Officers could hear the sound of glass breaking. Officers observed the discarded item to be a broken cylindrical pipe used to smoke narcotics. The suspect was on probation for property theft. He was taken into custody without incident. Kenton Nathaniel Brown, 57, Los Angeles, was arrested for destroying evidence, riding bike on sidewalk and a bike operated during darkness without front facing white light. Bail was set at $500.
