Crime Watch is a weekly series culled from reports provided by the Santa Monica Police Department. These are arrests only. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Thursday, Sept. 24, at 3:32 a.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 1500 block of Michigan Avenue regarding a report of a woman screaming. When officers arrived, they heard someone yelling and numerous people arguing from inside a residence. Officers knocked on the door and could smell the scent of marijuana coming from inside the residence. A person inside opened the door and allowed officers to enter. Officers said they saw a large amount of marijuana and cocaine in plain sight. The commotion was over some argument between two women. One apparently was flirting with the other one’s boyfriend. Officers placed all five suspects under arrest for possession of narcotics. They were identified as Richard Diaz, 27, from Oklahoma; Stephanie Flores, 25, of Culver City; Nicole Macintyre, 25, of Mar Vista; Jessica Barta, 21, of Los Angeles, and Brian Jimenez, 25, of Santa Monica. Bail was set at $10,000 for each suspect except Jimenez, who was booked for possession with intent to sell. His bail was set at $20,000.
Sunday, Sept. 27, at 12:40 p.m.,
Officers on routine patrol in the 800 block of Cedar Street observed a man in the alley who looked suspicious. Officers made contact with the man, who appeared to be confused, police said. Officers allegedly located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine or methamphetamine next to the suspect, who was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was identified as Cory Kronick, 49, of Thousand Oaks. His bail was set at $25,000.
Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 9:37 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 100 block of Washington Avenue after receiving a report that a car was stolen. Officers collected information from the victim and on Thursday, Sept. 17 officers located the car in the 1900 block of Yorkshire Avenue. Information obtained during the investigation led detectives to a suspect. Officers said the suspect was involved in a residential burglary and was in possession of stolen property. The suspect, Raul Corcio, 18, of Santa Monica, was booked for grand theft auto, burglary, possession of stolen property and probation violation. His bail was set at $50,000.
Friday, Sept. 25, at 1:05 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 700 block of Olympic Boulevard regarding a report of a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they observed two black males fighting. Officers asked the suspects to stop. The two continued. One of the men allegedly turned to the officers with an aggressive stance and fists clenched. Officers felt threatened and asked the man to stand down. He began walking toward the officers, who used a Taser to subdue the suspect, police said. The suspects were taken into custody. The first suspect was booked for public intoxication, fighting in public and resisting arrest. He was identified as Jason Proctor, 24, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $10,000. The second suspect, Sean Proctor, 30, of Santa Monica, was booked for public intoxication and fighting. His bail was set at $500.
Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 12:42 p.m.,
Officers responded to the area of 25th Street and Pico Boulevard — Rite-Aid — regarding a strong arm robbery. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said a man walked into the drug store and stuffed some Tylenol, two peanut butter bars and some cold sore gel into his pants before leaving the store failing to pay for the items, valued at $20.96. When security confronted the suspect outside of the store, he allegedly pushed them away and ran. Police picked up the suspect a short time later and he was placed under arrest for robbery. He was identified as Roman Araujo, 24, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $50,000.
Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 9:30 p.m.,
Officers responded to the Santa Monica Pier regarding a report of a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victims who said they accidentally bumped into one of the suspects, causing a cigarette to fall from his hand. The three suspects began arguing with the victim and their two friends. A fight ensued, with the suspects allegedly punching the victim in the back of the head and kicking another in the buttocks. They were identified as a 16-year-old juvenile, a 17-year-old juvenile and an 18-year-old from Santa Monica named Demetri Dye. His bail was set at $500. The juveniles were cited out.
Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 11:40 p.m.,
Officers observed a man riding a bicycle while pulling another, smaller bike with his left hand. Officers said the man was unsteady and wobbling on the bike. Officers stopped the bike rider and asked him where he got the smaller bike. The suspect allegedly told officers that he stole the bike after clipping the chain lock with bolt cutters. The suspect, Oscar Santos, 20, of Los Angeles, was arrested for possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4:16 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — Zveda Clothing — regarding an intoxicated man sitting on a couch inside the store. When officers arrived, they made contact with the man, who refused to leave the store. Officers placed the suspect under arrest and transported him to a local hospital for aid. As officers were escorting the individual to the hospital he allegedly stomped on one of the officer’s feet and kicked the other officer in the groin. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication and assault on a police officer. The suspect was identified as Gregory Cloud, 55, of Covina. His bail was set at $20,000.
