Officers were called to REI located at 402 Santa Monica Blvd for a shoplifting call. Upon arrival they met with loss prevention who had observed a male subject come into the store take a backpack and then proceed to put jackets inside the backpack. The suspect exited the store without paying for the items. Loss Prevention officers followed the suspect until the police arrived. Kenneth Leroy Spikes, 57, from Los Angeles was arrested for petty theft. Bail was set at $500.
