The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has filed three felony charges against Mario Alejandri, 31, for two aggravated assaults occurring on August 27 and 28, 2024.
On August 28, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a woman flagged down a passerby on Barnard Way, bleeding from cuts to her head and face. She reported being attacked by a man in an orange shirt, who punched her, hit her with a bottle, and attempted to shove sand in her mouth. Police arrived promptly, locating and arresting Alejandri nearby.
Further investigation revealed Alejandri was also involved in an assault the previous day at Trader Joe’s on Broadway, where he allegedly hit an employee and threw potted plants after being asked to leave the store. Surveillance footage connected him to both incidents.
Alejandri, who is on probation for battery, has an extensive criminal history, including prior arrests for assault, theft, and drug possession.
