Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7: 20 a.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 500 block of Olympic Boulevard regarding a report of domestic violence. When officers arrived, they saw paramedics administering first aid to the alleged victim. He stated that he was near OPCC when his wife approached him. He said his wife accused him of having an affair with a friend. The wife then allegedly started to strike the victim with a closed fist. The husband told officers that his wife had some type of metal object in her hand. The wife fled after getting in a couple of shots, police said. The husband had visible injuries to his face. Officers located the suspect on Jan. 30 at 8:10 p.m. in the 500 block of Olympic Boulevard. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. She was identified as Kijua Rogers, 31, a transient. Her bail was set at $50,000.
Saturday, Jan. 30, at 5:23 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of the Third Street Promenade — Sephora — regarding a shoplifting suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who told them that they observed the suspect place several items into a basket and put it on the ground. Another suspect approached and grabbed the items out of the basket and concealed them on her person, police said. Both suspects then left the store together. Security stopped them once they were outside the store and searched them. Security guards found items from Sephora in addition to items from other stores on the promenade. The suspects were placed under arrest for burglary. They were identified as Justine Kim, 24, and Katherine Kim, 18; both of Los Angeles. Their bail was set at $20,000.
Friday, Jan. 29, at 12:25 a.m.,
Officers on routine patrol observed a man riding a bike on the sidewalk in violation of the municipal code. Officers stopped the suspect to issue a citation. While talking with the suspect, officers asked to search his backpack. The suspect agreed. Officers said they found a glass pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for being in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was identified as William Holl, 50, a transient. No bail information was provided by police.
Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 11:25 p.m.,
Officers responded to the area of Centinela Avenue and Ocean Park Boulevard to assist a fellow officer who was investigating a possible DUI. Police said the driver in question drove past the officer at a high rate of speed. When the driver approached a red light at Centinela and Pearl Street, she allegedly stopped for a few seconds but then proceeded through the intersection while the light was still red. Officers said the driver appeared to be impaired. Her eyes were red, she had slurred speech, a flushed face and smelled of alcohol, police said. Officers had her perform a series of balance and coordination tests. Upon completion of the tests, officers arrested the suspect for driving while impaired. The suspect, Melissa Wares, 27, of Los Angeles was booked for driving under the influence and a probation violation. Her bail was set at $15,000.
Thursday, Jan. 28, at 6:11 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of the promenade — Barnes & Noble — regarding a theft suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store employees who told them that the suspect entered a restricted area and was carrying numerous DVD box sets valued at over $450. When the suspect was confronted by staff, he allegedly attempted to run down the escalators and out the front door. As employees attempted to stop the suspect, he tried to knock them over by running into them. The employees were able to detain the suspect until police arrived. The suspect was placed under arrest for robbery. He was identified as Kevan Tshekaloff, 41, of Calabasas. His bail was set at $50,000.
Thursday, Jan. 28, at 8:05 p.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the 2100 block of Alley 8 when they saw a woman sitting next to a trash can with an open container of alcohol. Officers made contact with the suspect and confirmed that she was drinking alcohol in public and also had drug paraphernalia. The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation. She was identified as Lucrezia Biscardi, 48, a transient. Her bail was set at $10,000.
Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 1:59 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 300 block of Pico Boulevard regarding a strong arm robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived, they located two victims (a male and a female). The victims told officers that they were in the parking lot when three men approached them. One of the men said, “This is a stick up.” When the male victim refused to comply, the suspects allegedly hit and kicked him while reaching into his pockets. The suspects removed keys from the female victim’s pockets. After grabbing the keys, the suspects fled the location. Officers were able to locate the suspects a short distance away. The suspects were booked for robbery. They were identified as Alberto Luna, 19, Julio Moreno, 19, and a male juvenile; all from Los Angeles. Bail was set at $50,000.
Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 8:23 a.m.,
Officers on routine patrol near Christine Reed Park saw a man who appeared to be camping. Officers searched the suspect and found him to be in possession of hypodermic needles and concentrated cannabis. The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of hashish, possession of needles and possession of burglary tools and warrants. He was identified as Julian McGovern, 21, a transient. His bail was set at $16,750.
