On July 8 at approximately 12:20 a.m., a woman was awake in bed in the upstairs bedroom of her residence at the 600 block of Palisades Beach Road and heard what sounded like someone trying to open the bedroom door.
The woman assumed her daughter was at the door, but when she opened it she saw the suspect standing in the landing at the top of the stairwell. The woman questioned the suspect about why he was in her home, but the suspect ignored her and walked downstairs.
The woman then locked the bedroom door and woke her husband up, then called 911. She then went out to her balcony and saw the suspect walking away from the residence on the beach bike path.
Officers responded to the area and located the suspect nearby. The suspect was detained and later positively identified by the woman.
Jeremy Lee Sutliff, 41, of Glendale, was arrested for burglary. Bail was set at bail $50,000.
