Emergency service providers in Venice had a busy and tragic weekend with a pair of accidental deaths.
A bicyclist was killed on Friday and a teenager died Saturday in unrelated cases.
On Friday, at about 3 a.m. a woman was riding her bicycle in circles at the intersection of Pacific and Rose when she was hit by a vehicle. She died at the hospital and officers have not released her identity.
Police officers were looking for a large SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban after the driver fled the scene and anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at 213- 473-0236 or 213-473-0234; 877-LAPD-247; or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
On Saturday, police officers responded to multiple overdose calls with one resulting in the death of a teenager.
The deceased teenager was one of two who were hospitalized after the Los Angeles Fire Department said they became suddenly ill around 3 p.m.
Firefighters say the teens, who were from a youth group, were taken to a Santa Monica hospital by LAFD Paramedics.
The LAPD said the kids bought what they thought was Percocet in McFarland (near Bakersfield).
The surviving teenager was in serious condition with an altered level of consciousness Monday, according to the LAFD.
Police said this incident is not related to an earlier overdose at the Rose Avenue and Ocean Front Walk bathroom around 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
