Officers responded to the area of Ocean Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard regarding a fight in progress. Officers arrived on scene and found a lone subject suffering from a large laceration to his face. Officers learned that the fight call was actually a robbery of a cellphone that just occurred.
Officers learned that the victim was sleeping in the park when he was approached by the suspect, who was a transient who recently came to the city of Santa Monica. The suspect demanded the victim’s property. A struggle ensued and the suspect stole the victim’s property a fled the scene.
Officers located the suspect, who was positively identified by witnesses and the victim, a short distance away. The suspect was found to have a warrant for homicide out of Albuquerque, NM and another warrant from the Santa Fe Police Department.
Anthony Lewese Frasier, 27, homeless, was booked and held without bail for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and his outstanding warrants.
