Tuesday, May 1, at 10:25 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to a report of a drunk person in the lobby of the Jack in the Box located in the 2000 block of Lincoln Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found the suspect sitting in the parking lot. He had a small cut to his forehead, which police said he sustained after falling when he left the fast food restaurant. Officers believed he was too drunk to care for himself and detained him while paramedics were responding to the scene. When officers searched him, they said they found a glass pipe commonly used to smoke narcotics in the suspect’s jacket. He was eventually booked for possession of drug paraphernalia and being drunk in public. He was identified as Patrick Gallagher, 48, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $500.
Tuesday, May 1, at 5:56 p.m.,
Officers were on patrol in Downtown when they saw a man drinking beer in public in the 1200 block of Third Street. He was detained and searched. During a search of his property, officers said they found him to be in possession of a milk crate in violation of the California Penal Code. He was arrested and booked for possession of a milk crate, public intoxication, possession of an open container and violation of probation. He was identified as Mage White, 53, a transient. His bail was set at $10,000.
Thursday, May 3, at 1:52 a.m.,
Officers were on patrol in the 1900 block of Lincoln Boulevard when they spotted a man riding his bike on the sidewalk, a violation of the Santa Monica Municipal Code. Officers stopped the cyclist and informed him of the violation. The suspect consented to a search by officers, who allegedly recovered a small amount of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of drugs and paraphernalia. He was identified as Ronald Willis, 47, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $10,000.
Thursday, May 3, at 6:25 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 300 block of Broadway on the report of a man confronting another man over a stolen skateboard. When officers arrived, they made contact with both men and learned that one of them had his skateboard stolen about two months ago when he feel asleep on a bus from Echo Park to Santa Monica. This man said that he saw the other with his skateboard in the 300 block of Broadway and confronted him. The alleged victim had photos of the skateboard on his cell phone and showed them to officers. The skateboards seemed to match. A witness with the suspect admitted that the suspect bought the skateboard at a pawn shop and knew that it may have been stolen. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for receiving stolen property. He was identified as Bryan Joseph Bovee, 23, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $1,000.
Friday, May 4, at 10:10 p.m.,
Officers working the Third Street Promenade received a radio call about a shoplifter leaving Sephora, a fragrance and beauty supply store. Officers were told that the suspect was least seen heading east on Arizona Avenue. Officers gave chase and located the suspect and detained her without incident. Security said the woman took two boxes of fake eye lashes and put them in a bag she was carrying. She then left the store without paying for them. Officers looked inside the suspect’s bag and found several items belonging to Sephora that were valued at $375. The suspect allegedly provided a false name to the officers at the time of her arrest. She was eventually booked for petty theft and providing false information to a police officer. She was identified as Petina Schultz, 37, a transient. Her bail was set at $5,000.
Saturday, May 5, at 8:08 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 900 block of 23rd Street regarding a family disturbance in which one person was yelling at everyone in the home and may have been under the influence of drugs. When officers arrived, they made contact with the family members who said their uncle was acting strange by yelling at everyone and saying someone was following him. Officers made contact with the man, who admitted to having injected cocaine earlier and to being on probation for narcotic sales. The man consented to a search of his home. Officers said they found cocaine and several needles. The man was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and for being under the influence. He was identified as Wesley Titus, 43, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $10,000.
Saturday, May 5, at 7:10 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1400 block of 16th Street on the report of a man refusing to leave a friend’s house. When officers arrived, they made contact with the suspect outside the home and felt he was under the influence of alcohol and was unable to care for himself. Officers placed him under arrest for public intoxication. He was identified as Thomas O’Rourke, 53, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $250.
Sunday, May 6, at 4:24 p.m.,
Officers were on patrol in the area of Fourth Street and Colorado Avenue when they were flagged down by a security guard from Sears who pointed to a man running eastbound on Colorado who had allegedly just stole something from the store. Officers caught up with the suspect and detained him. Inside his backpack, officers said they found approximately $99 worth of merchandise from Sears. Security said they saw the suspect concealing items in the backpack before he ran out of the store without paying. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for burglary. He was identified as Patrick Holten, 21, a transient. His bail was set at $20,000.
