On September 7 at 3:50 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Pico Blvd. for a fight call involving 10-12 subjects. A witness reported the subjects were fighting and then fleeing the area. Officers detained two subjects as they were running away. One of them stopped running when directed, but the other was confrontational. This subject grabbed the hand of the officer and continued to be resistive to commands. He attempted to run away but the officers stopped him and placed him in handcuffs. He continued to act agitated and yell at the officers. He was transported to the jail. Mere Ceja, 22, of Santa Monica, had bail set at $10,000.
On September 7 at 5:06 p.m.
Officers responded to the 1800 block of 10th St regarding a battery that just occurred. When they arrived, the officers noticed one of the subjects was soaking wet from head to toe. This person said he approached the other subjects regarding an issue with a common tree, as they all live in the same duplex. There is a disagreement regarding the removal of the tree. An argument started and one of the subjects picked up a water hose and sprayed the victim with water a couple times. The person that sprayed the water said he sprayed the water for his safety and because the other subject would not go away. Michael Calvin Stayley, 47, of Santa Monica, had bail set at $20,000.
On September 6 at 2:53 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Centinela Ave. regarding a "burglary occurring now" call. A witness observed "two" subjects trying to access the apartment by climbing over the rear common area wall and appeared to be intoxicated. Officers gained access into the complex and ultimately called the people out of the apartment through the front door. Once the subjects were removed from the apartment, officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence. While inside the apartment, officers observed narcotics, narcotic paraphernalia, blank credit cards, ID cards and equipment consistent with making fraudulent ID cards/credit cards in plain view. Detectives responded to assist with a search warrant and immediate follow-up. One of the subjects was later confirmed as a resident of the apartment. Three subjects were ultimately taken into custody for narcotics violations pending further follow-up. Uygintas Bobina, 35, of Los Angeles had bail set at $50,000. Renaldas Bobina, 34, was arrested without bail. Mantas Sileikis, 31, of Santa Monica, was arrested without bail.
On September 6, at 12:52 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to an assault that occurred in the 1400 block of the 3rd St Promenade. While en route, officers were told the suspect was being detained by citizens in the 300 block of Wilshire. The officers were approached by the victim, who said the suspect pushed him for no reason on knocked food items out of his hands. The victim had never seen the suspect before. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated and was argumentative with the officers. The victim was desirous of a private person arrest for battery. John Gabriel Salas, 27, of Los Angeles, had bail set at $20,000.
On September 5 at 8:51 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 1316 3rd St Promenade for an indecent exposure call. The victim, an employee of Planned Parenthood, told the officers there was a male masturbating while looking through the glass of the front door at the female employees. The officers responded to the male's location at saw he was still exposing himself to people in the waiting area. The male told the officers he was looking for a bathroom. Several female witnesses identified the subject and said he was masturbating while looking at them. He was placed under arrest for indecent exposure. Richard Anthony Rodriguez, 23, transient, had bail set at $11,500.
On September 4 at 4:05 a.m.
Officers were patrolling the area of 4th and Hill and observed a subject walking on the sidewalk. The officer made conversation with the subject while seated in the patrol vehicle. They spoke for a few minutes and then the subject sat down and took his sweatshirt off. The officer exited the vehicle and approached him to continue the conversation. The officer saw two handles sticking out from underneath the subject's sweatshirt. The officer recognized the handles as being part of a pair of bolt cutters. The subject was on probation for burglary and consented to a search. The officer located a prior booking form that indicated he was recently arrested for possession of burglary tools, a Microsoft Xbox, Dremel router, and other tools. The officer uncovered the bolt cutters which were 14" and had a lanyard that allowed them to be worn as a necklace. Joseph Andrew Sweigart, 25, transient, had bail set at $20,000.
On September 3 at 10:08 p.m.
Officers responded to 1747 Lincoln (U-Haul) for a burglary call that just occurred. An employee of the alarm company witnessed (via cctv) a male break a window and enter the location. The employee said the male was last seen walking away from the location carrying items from inside.
When officers arrived, they saw the entry/exit doors had been broken, possibly with a mop bucket. Officers later detained the suspect at 1843 Lincoln, and recovered the items that were stolen in the burglary. The suspect stated he broke into the business because he was cold and that he had done it before. Several items were recovered and returned to the victim. David Wells, 64, transient, had bail set at $20,000.
