Friday, Oct. 3, at 5:29 p.m.,
Santa Monica police responded to the corner of Lincoln and Olympic boulevards regarding a report of smoke coming from a freeway embankment. When officers arrived, they noticed two suspects camping near the freeway, drinking beer and having a barbecue. After citing one of the suspects for drinking alcohol in public, officers discovered that the other was under the influence of drugs. Officers also found in their possession hypodermic needles and marijuana. Both were arrested. The first suspect, Eric Daniel Rodriguez, 21, of Los Angeles, was booked for the illegal possession of a hypodermic needle, illegal camping and for violation of probation. His bail was set at $10,000. The second suspect was identified as Kelly Lin Osborn, 24, a transient, who was booked for being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two warrants. His bail was set at $17,932.
Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 5:20 p.m.,
Police responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue — Sears — regarding a report of a theft suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said the suspect used a pair of wire cutters to remove security censors from a pair of pants and then exited the store without paying for the items. Once outside the store, security detained the suspect and found other merchandise on her. She was placed under arrest for burglary and possession of burglary tools. The suspect was identified as Nancy Louise Ronne, 63, from Los Angeles. Her bail was set at $20,000. The merchandise that was recovered was valued at $97.
Thursday, Sept. 18, at 11:20 p.m.,
Police responded to a parking lot in the 2500 block of Main Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim who said he was struck in the head by a man while sleeping. He told officers the suspect hit him because he was sleeping in the other man’s spot. On Sept. 30, a man matching the description of the suspect was seen in the area of Main and Bay streets. Officers detained the suspect and after an in-field interview placed him under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and five outstanding warrants. The suspect was identified as Calvin Corbert Owens, 61, a transient. His bail was set at $31,767.
Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 12:45 a.m.,
Police responded to the 2400 block of Lincoln Court regarding a report of a battery in progress. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim who said she was punched in the face by a male acquaintance. Officers went to the suspect’s home and learned he was on parole. Officers placed the suspect under arrest and searched his home, where they found cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said. The suspect was booked for assault and battery, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, plus violation of parole. He was identified as Michael Noel Moch, 38, of Santa Monica. No bail was set.
Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 3:40 p.m.,
Police responded to the 1900 block of 18th Street regarding a report of a fight. When they arrived, they attempted to detain one of the parties involved, who was very agitated. The suspect ignored commands from the officers and physically resisted when an officer attempted to detain her, police said. She was eventually placed under arrest. While an officer was placing her in the patrol car, the suspect allegedly spat on the officer. The suspect was booked for resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and violation of parole. The suspect was identified as Terri Yvette Barnett, 38, of Santa Monica. Her bail was set at $20,000.
Friday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m.,
Police responded to the corner of Second Street and Broadway regarding a report of an assault with a deadly weapon suspect in the area. When police arrived, they spoke with a witness who said he saw the man who allegedly assaulted his friend with a knife back in August. After checking the description of the suspect in the police report, officers placed the man under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as John Lanze, 55, a transient. His bail was set at $30,000.
Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7:40 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1100 block of Fourth Street regarding an armed robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived, they spoke with the alleged victim, the owner of a catering truck, who said he was robbed at knifepoint. One suspect was arrested in the area. The other got away. The suspect in custody was identified as Nelson Tobias, 18, from Los Angeles. He was booked for robbery. His bail was set at $50,000. The second suspect was described as a male Hispanic, 18 to 25 years old, weighing 170 pounds with short, straight, black hair and brown eyes with a dark complexion. Anyone with information is urged to contact the SMPD.
Sunday, Oct. 5, at 7:20 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1600 block of Ocean Front Walk regarding a report of a fight that just occurred. When officers arrived, they spoke with the alleged victim who said he was struck in the head with a cane during an altercation with two suspects. The suspects were still at the scene. Officers placed both suspects under arrest. The victim suffered a laceration to the head. The first suspect was identified as James Matt Marsee, 71, of Santa Monica. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $30,000. The second suspect was identified as Milton Loren Frye, 41, a transient. He was booked for public intoxication and fighting in public. His bail was set at $500.
