To help send Santa Monica College (SMC) students to the regional competition of the prestigious 2020 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), the SMC Theatre Arts Department will present three benefit performances of Flamenco Macbeth!.
The Flamenco Macbeth! performances will be held Friday and Saturday, February 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m. in the Theatre Arts Studio Stage. Located in the Theatre Arts Complex on the main SMC campus, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.
Flamenco Macbeth! tickets are $20 (plus a service charge). Advance tickets are available at smc.edu/studiostage or by calling (310) 434-4319 Monday through Friday.
SMC’s students have been invited to perform their 2019 production of Flamenco Macbeth! at the festival. In addition, 21 students from this past year’s SMC productions were nominated for the coveted Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship, with 17 of them planning to present their competition pieces for the award at the festival.
SMC students have also been nominated for stage management, scenic design, and projection design competitions, and will have many of their prompt books and design displays on display during the regional festival, which will be held this year on February 11-15 at CSU Fullerton. The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival is a national theater program involving 20,000 students selected annually from colleges and universities nationwide.
