The lineup for the 35th pier concert series has been announced.
Event organizers renamed the Twilight Concert Series as “Twilight on the Pier” last year and have announced plans to add non-music entertainment to the events this year. The weekly shows will have two music stages and one comedy performance (comedy acts will be announced in July).
“Formerly known as the Twilight Concert Series, Twilight on the Pier has been reimagined to offer a culturally-diverse and unique Pier-wide celebration,” said the lineup announcement. “Each night of the series celebrates a different soundscape from around the world, including long-time favorites (Island Vibes, Aussie Splash and Latin Wave) and new themes (Middle East Beats, Japanese Vibes).”
While entertainment has expanded to three stages, organizers said the adjacent beach is no longer part of the official program.
“Last year we introduced the Pier-wide festival, and this year it’s all about perfecting that experience,” said Executive Director, Negin Singh in a statement. “We learned that people really want to dance on the West End stage while the sun sets, so all of the artists we booked for that stage will make you move. We learned that people want to chill at the Pacific Park Stage, so we’re turning it into a 21+ Comedy Stage. We’re giving people an unforgettable way to experience the Santa Monica Pier, global music, and art, all for free!”
