The dining event of the season has arrived and for the next 14 days dozens of local restaurants will be serving up sumptuous meals for shockingly good deals.
DineL.A. ‘s restaurant week is an annual event that entices Angelenos to become more adventurous diners through bargain prix-fixe menus at top restaurants across the city.
This year’s event takes on increased importance as organizers strive to support L.A.’s hard-hit restaurant community by encouraging Angelenos to frequent local establishments.
“We have participated in dineL.A. for 13 years,” said Susan Feniger, chef and owner of Socalo. “More than ever before, dineL.A. Restaurant Week ties our entire community together, from chef to diner. It’s a beautiful and much needed moment that we can all support.”
Restaurant week lunch menus range from $15 to $35, while most of the three course dinner menus range from $25 to $65.
In light of the pandemic, dineL.A. is expanding its restaurant week programming to include takeaway options. The organization has partnered with Grubhub to allow Angelenos to support local restaurants and enjoy exclusive deals from the comfort of their homes.
Those interested in al-fresco dining, but worried about health risks will be pleased to know that several of the participating restaurants have earned the Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance Seal. These businesses have all demonstrated their commitment to providing the highest level of safety to their customers and employees.
“We’ve always enjoyed being a part of dineL.A.,” said Raphael Lunetta, owner of Lunetta, which is a SM Shines approved business. “It’s a great way to introduce restaurants to new communities and have people enjoy the great menu we put together specially for the event.”
Other participating SM Shines restaurants include Meat on Ocean, Tiato, Water Grill, and Blue Streak at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
“Meat on Ocean participates in restaurant week because we give a chance to experience our unique Dry Age and Meat eccentric program on a level unparalleled by other steakhouses,” said Chef Samuel Thomas. “We Dry Age all our product and have our own butcher in restaurant.”
“Blue Streak just launched a new Mediterranean inspired menu that is highlighted on the dineL.A. menu,” said Elaine San Jose, PR area director for Loews Hotels. “During the weekend, guests can also enjoy Blue Streak’s al fresco ocean terrace featuring 13 fire pits and our signature beachfront location.”

Santa Monica Travel and Tourism is a firm supporter of the event and encourages all residents to take advantage of the great deals and do their part to support local restaurants.
“We as consumers are needed to help support these efforts and just as important, frequently dine at our Santa Monica restaurants, where we will be putting people back to work by dining outdoors, ordering to go or for delivery, picking up a gift certificate, and, if you have the means, treat a neighbor in need,” said Misti Kerns, president and CEO of SMTT. “Each one of us can make a difference.”
