Santa Monica's Fairview and Ocean Park branch libraries have expanded from self-service to full-service operations three days weekly. The expansion, part of the city's two-year Realignment Plan approved last year, restored librarian staffing, technical assistance, and programming. The $60 million plan included service restorations, street improvements, and safety investments. Fairview Branch opened Tuesday-Wednesday noon-8 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Ocean Park Branch opened Wednesday-Thursday noon-8 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Celebration events welcomed patrons Jan. 20-21. The plan outlined further expansion to four days weekly by July 2026, increasing total full-service hours from 108 to 154 weekly across five locations.
