Santa Monica police and fire personnel responded to a death investigation in the 1100 block of 7th Street, where an adult was pronounced dead at the scene following an apparent suicide.
Preliminary information indicates the death is not related to criminal activity, and there is no threat to the public.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death. The individual's identity will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
Seventh Street is closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Washington Avenue while personnel complete the investigation. Officials asked the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
