The Santa Monica College (SMC) Theatre Arts Department will perform Project Fear (And All the Feels) April 19-28 in the Theatre Arts Studio Stage on the main SMC campus, 1900 Pico Blvd. Two of the performances — on April 19 and April 21, will include an audience Q&A after the performances.
The stories of middle school and high school kids about the fears and challenges they face during this time in history are presented in Project Fear (And All the Feels), a docu-play that reflects the results of interviews with more than 50 teens — from Alaska to New York to South Carolina to California — from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Prompted to tell stories that were meaningful to them, these teens covered a wide range of topics and concerns. Their words will be delivered onstage by student actors.
The docu-play was written by Michelle Kholos Brooks. The SMC production is directed by Aric Martin.
Show times are 7:30pm on Friday, April 19 (with audience Q&A) and April 26, and Saturday, April 20 and April 27. Matinees are at 2pm on Sunday, April 21 (with audience Q&A) and April 28. All performances subject to change or cancellation without notice.
Advance (pre-sale) tickets, which range from $18 to $20 ($15 for SMC students and staff) plus a modest service charge, can be purchased online at any time, or by calling 310-434-3005 Monday through Friday. Tickets purchased on performance weekends at the Events Box Office (at the Theatre Arts building) are $3 higher.
