The Board of Los Angles Waterkeeper, the region's leading water quality watchdog group, has announced that Bruce Reznik will be taking the helm of the organization as its new Executive Director. Reznik will be replacing Liz Crosson, who departed the organization after five years to take a position as Water Policy Advisor for the City of Los Angeles, Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti. The organization is looking forward to collaborating with Liz Crosson and The City of Los Angeles to protect, restore and conserve LA County's waters , and welcoming Bruce Reznik to the organization on September 8.
"Bruce brings twenty years of experience in the environmental arena, including 11 years successfully running one of our sister-organizations, San Diego Coastkeeper," said LA Waterkeeper Board Chair Jonathan Varat. "We are thrilled to bring someone with his experience, familiarity with the Waterkeeper movement, and stellar reputation to lead our organization forward."
Reznik, a Los Angeles native and environmental attorney, served as San Diego Coastkeeper's Executive Director from 1999 through 2010. He has also led the Sacramento-based Planning & Conservation League (PCL), Sustainable San Diego, and was a project manager at the Los Angeles environmental consulting firm, Gladstein, Neandross & Associates. Most recently, he was back in San Diego working to promote affordable housing and equitable, sustainable community development as head of the San Diego Housing Federation.

Founded in 1993, Los Angeles Waterkeeper's mission is to protect, restore and conserve the Santa Monica Bay, San Pedro Bay, and adjacent waters through enforcement, fieldwork, and community action. LA Waterkeeper works to achieve this mission through litigation and regulatory programs that ensure water quality protections in waterways throughout L.A. County. LA Waterkeeper is a member organization of the international Waterkeeper Alliance, the world's fastest growing environmental movement, and the California Coastkeeper Alliance.
Reznik spent eleven years running San Diego Coastkeeper, the region's largest clean water advocacy and outreach organization. Under his direction, the organization grew into the region's largest and most effective voice for clean water, helping dramatically reduce sewage, stormwater and industrial pollution of the region's waterways, and playing a key role in strengthening water quality regulations and educating and engaging tens of thousands of San Diegans in clean water efforts.
