Santa Monica Public Library will host the Society of Architectural Historians, Southern California Chapter (SAH/SCC) for the lecture "Doug Suisman on the Boulevards" on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m., in the Main Library's Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
The newly republished 25th anniversary edition of "Los Angeles Boulevard: Eight X-Rays of the Body Public" is the subject of this presentation by author Doug Suisman who discusses the history and significance of the boulevards that link L.A.'s urban core to the Pacific coast. Suisman is an internationally recognized, award-winning urban designer and architect. He founded Suisman Urban Design in 1990 to create vibrant city places by integrating research, architecture, landscape, and graphics. A book sale and signing follows the program.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and on a first arrival basis. The Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible.
