The Iranian American Women Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the empowerment and networking among Iranian American Women locally and globally, introduced its first wellness event this year. The sold-out Winter Wellness Retreat was a daylong experience that took place on Sunday, February 10th, at The 1909 Topanga. It was designed to facilitate mindfulness and balance to everyday life.
“IAWF conferences always cover issues related to women,” says IAWF founder Mariam Khosravani. “Health, wellness, and often a spiritual practice is a major part of anyone's life. Today more than ever, with the stress and pressure most women face each and every day, we felt it was imperative to dedicate a full day of programming to share with people the tools and practices needed for balanced, mindful living.”
The retreat included workshops with thought leaders in yoga, meditation, sound healing, conscious nutrition, mindfulness, vision work, and wellness.
Leading the workshops and talks were: Dr. Jami Zamyad, MS, RD, Director, Clinical Nutrition Services at Stanford Children’s Health / Lucile Packard Children's Hospital; Dr. Mona Vand, Wellness Pharmacist and Influencer; moderator Ramsay Mead, Performance and Detox Specialist, author of Happy Tummy Happy Life, QiGong Instructor, Mona Tashroudian, Yoga Instructor; Roxie Sarhangi, Sound Healing Artist; Dr. Sherry Nooravi, Organizational Psychologist; and Shirin Hedayat, Meditation and Mindfulness Coach.
