Ocean Avenue was lit up Thursday for a red carpet affair befitting of the city’s newest premier hotel.
The Regent Santa Monica Beach held a grand opening ceremony in a luxurious setting in and outside of its doors, with guests in full cocktail attire for the evening. Despite the attire’s namesake, champagne was instead the most popular drink of the evening, adding to the ambiance accentuated by a live musical quartet.
Remodeled and rebranded from the 1700 Ocean Ave. site of the Loews hotel, the Regent serves as the brand’s first flagship property in the Americas, combining 167 guest rooms and suites with a host of amenities.
"It is an honor to reintroduce this legacy brand to Southern California and ignite a new era of unforgettable memories for our guests in Santa Monica," Regent Santa Monica Beach General Manager Younes Atallah said. "Our resort captures the unique allure of Santa Monica in a serene setting where you can disconnect from the outside world and experience Regent’s legendary hospitality on your terms."
Base rooms at the location start at 720 square feet and include a refreshment gallery, bathrooms with a soaking tub and walk-in rain shower, and a designated dining and work station. The hotel’s largest suite, the Santa Monica Presidential Suite, is 3,200 square feet with separate living, dining and game rooms.
Also within the Regent’s halls are four eat and drink options: Mediterranean cuisine at Orla, cocktails at Orla Bar and Azure Bar, and the Sweet July Café. Other amenities include the 10,000 square foot Guerlain Wellness spa, the Azure Pool and a massive fitness center.
For family vacations, Regent has partnered with child safety brand CYBEX to provide parents with full-size, travel and multi-sport strollers, as well as baby bouncers and highchairs. The hotel also offers Nestig brand 3-in-1 Wave Cribs for babies and infants, as well as age-appropriate entertainment via kids programming lineup Seascape Explorers.
The combined experience is one of "luxury hospitality," IHG Hotels & Resorts Vice President of Global Luxury & Lifestyle Brands Tom Rowntree said.
"As we open the doors to Regent Santa Monica Beach, we celebrate not only the homecoming of Regent to the Americas, but a new chapter for the brand that will usher in an unprecedented level of luxury along Santa Monica’s prized coast … as we welcome Regent back to Los Angeles, the brand sets its sights on innovating luxury travel with a resort that will redefine Southern California hospitality and set a new standard for elegance, serenity, and thoughtful service," Rowntree said.
