Brookdale Ocean House Kicks Off Bocce Season With Pollinator Garden Event
Brookdale Ocean House will launch its bocce season Wednesday with a resident-led program pairing a game of bocce ball with a hands-on botanical activity.
The April 15 event, called "Bocce & Botanicals," combines a game of bocce ball with a pollinator-focused floral design workshop. Scheduled for 1 p.m. at the community's bocce court, the program is part of the facility's ongoing "Crafts with Purpose" series.
Sharon, recognized by the community as its resident garden enthusiast, will lead the botanical portion of the event. She will guide participants in creating living bouquets using milkweed and seasonal plants selected to attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
Unlike traditional cut-flower arrangements, the designs are built around live plants that residents can take home and grow on patios or in small garden spaces — extending the program's impact beyond the event itself.
"Wherever you plant something with care, something beautiful grows," Sharon said.
Brookdale Ocean House is located at 2107 Ocean Ave., Santa Monica. RSVPs are being accepted at the front desk.
