SMC: Construction continued at the Santa Monica College Malibu campus/ Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Substation on April 3, 2021 in Malibu. The new facility roughly sitting at 27,500 square feet will include classrooms, computer and science labs, an art studio, and a grand lecture hall. The ground level of the facility will also be shared with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department to act as a new substation, allowing officers a midway point in their 22 mile coverage between Malibu and Angoura hills. This addition of the new substation for the police will be the first time the Malibu has seen a local active station since the 1990’s.
