Officers responded to the Santa Monica Library at 601 Santa Monica Blvd for an Assault call. Two transients were fighting over a computer. One of the transients started to choke the other and attempted to gouge out his eyes with his thumbs. Library staff was able to intervene and separate them. Officers arrived on scene and took custody of the subject. The suspect had a knife in his hand. John William Randall, 49, homeless, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a knife and mayhem. Bail was set at $100,000.
