Sunday, April 29, at 12:35 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the Santa Monica Pier regarding a report of a suspicious person inside the men’s restroom. Witnesses told officers that the man inside the bathroom had been in there a very long time and was staring at people as they used the urinals. Officers entered the restroom and surprised the suspect, who was facing away from them. He allegedly admitted to masturbating in the restroom for roughly 30 minutes. Based on his admission, officers placed him under arrest for lewd acts and a violation of probation for prior lewd acts. He was identified as Jeffrey Johnson, 46, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $10,000.
Sunday, April 29, at 6:45 p.m.,
Officers responded to the area of 20th Street and Delaware Avenue regarding a report of an assault with a deadly weapon that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who was driving his car when he stopped at the intersection of 20th Street and Delaware. The man told officers that as he was about to turn he saw a gray Dodge Caravan coming toward him. The driver of the van pointed an air pistol with an orange tip at the other man and fired a projectile that struck his window, but did not shatter it. The driver of the van then fled. During a search of the area, police located the van parked at Virginia Avenue Park. The suspect and his passenger were detained and questioned. The air gun was recovered, police said. The victim positively identified the suspect and he was placed under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as Chase Scott, 19, of Inglewood. His bail was set at $30,000.
Sunday, April 29, at 4:10 p.m.,
Officers were in the area of Highland and Pier avenues when they saw a man who appeared to be loitering near some parked cars in the 600 block of Pier. Police said the man was peering into parked cars. Officers made contact with him. He admitted to them that he was on parole for narcotics. He admitted he was in possession of pot and consented to a search. Officers said they found the pot and a glass pipe containing a solid white-colored rock that officers believed was cocaine. The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and marijuana, and for a parole violation. He was identified as Thomas Crockett, 38, a transient. No bail was set.
Saturday, April 28, at 12:42 a.m.,
Officers on routine patrol in the 1800 block of Alley 13 saw a man who was loitering. They made contact with the man, who told them that he was not from the area and was waiting for someone to pick him up. Officers believed he was heavily intoxicated and found him to be in possession of an open container of alcohol. He was placed under arrest for being drunk in public. Officers searched him and said they found methamphetamine. He was eventually booked for possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication. He was identified as Andre Antoine, 23, of Santa Monica. Bail was set at $10,000.
Friday, April 27, at 9:14 p.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol on the 1000 block of Pico Boulevard when they saw a man riding his bike west in the eastbound lanes of Pico, a violation of the vehicle code. The suspect was detained by police and searched. He was found to be in possession of two pipes commonly used to smoke narcotics and a small amount of crack. He was placed under arrest and booked for possession of drugs and paraphernalia and for riding on the wrong side of the street. He was identified as Reginald Warlick, 51, of Pomona, Calif. His bail was set at $10,000.
Thursday, April 26, at 8:56 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1600 block of Seventh Street on the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who said he had just left Vons on Broadway and was carrying food he had purchased when the suspect, who was walking in front of him, suddenly turned and ran at him in a threatening manner. He allegedly dropped his backpack and clenched his fists as if to strike the man with the groceries. At that point the man dropped his groceries and the suspect picked them up and said that they were now his. He allegedly challenged the victim to “do something about it,” before running off with the groceries. The suspect was located a few blocks away and placed under arrest for robbery. He was identified as Micah Graham, 33, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $50,000. The groceries were recovered.
Thursday, April 26, at 4:24 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of the Third Street Promenade — Sephora — regarding a report of two men who were about to walk off with some cologne. When officers arrived, they two suspects were exiting the store. They were immediately detained without incident. Inside bags officers said they found $300 worth of cologne. Store security said the suspects placed the bottles into the bags and then tried walking out of the store without paying for them. When they saw officers approaching, the men allegedly tried to walk back into the store. They were placed under arrest for conspiracy and petty theft. They were identified as Davion Woods, 23, of Los Angeles; and Gerron McGary, 21, of Corona, Calif. Bail was set at $1,000 each.
