Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 2900 block of Main Street regarding a person who was drunk in public. When officers arrived, they were directed to the suspect, who was walking eastbound on Pier Avenue from Main Street. As the suspect turned north on Second Street, officers pulled up behind him and asked him to stop. The suspect continued to walk away from the officers and allegedly reached into his waistband and dropped a metal object on the sidewalk. He walked a few more feet and then sat on the ground. Officers placed the subject under arrest for public intoxication. They recovered the metal object, which turned out to be a toy gun. Within a few minutes of the arrest, a woman approached the officers and said that the suspect had just tried to rob her using the toy gun. The suspect was eventually booked for attempted robbery. He was identified as Dmitry Arkhipov, 26. His bail was set at $50,000.
Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 1:39 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 900 block of Alley 11 on the report of a man throwing objects at an apartment window. When officers arrived, they spoke with the person who called police. The woman said that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend was in the alley throwing things at her window, causing it to shatter. When officers entered the alley, they saw a man standing next to a parked car. This man suddenly ran westbound through the apartment complex. Officers conducted a search and found the suspect in a backyard. He was identified by the alleged victim and placed under arrest for vandalism. He was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was booked for vandalism, being under the influence of drugs and a parole violation. He was identified as Raul Corcio, 20, of Santa Monica. No bail was set.
Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 4:16 p.m.,
Officers responded to the corner of Second Street and Ocean Park Boulevard regarding a report of a strong arm robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with the manager of ZJ Boarding House, who said that he was in the back of the store when the suspect suddenly ran past him with a pair of shoes and a large shopping bag and exited through the rear doors of the store. The manager gave chase, fearing his store had just been robbed, and caught up with the suspect a few blocks away. At that time, the manager noticed the suspect was in possession of merchandise from the surf shop. He demanded it back, at which time the suspect allegedly tried to hit him. The manager asked a nearby security guard to call police, at which point the suspect dropped the merchandise and walked away, police said. Officers located him a short time later and placed him under arrest for robbery. The suspect was identified as Daniel Martin Jaime, 38, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $50,000.
Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 3:49 a.m.,
Police responded to the 1200 block of 26th Street regarding a report of a prowler in the backyard of a home. When officers arrived, they located the suspect, who was asleep. Upon waking the suspect up, officers determined he was heavily intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The suspect said he was trying to walk home. Officers placed him under arrest for public intoxication. During a search, officers said they recovered a small amount of cocaine in the suspect’s wallet. He was eventually booked for possession of drugs, public intoxication and a probation violation. He was identified as Daniel Ruiz, 28, of North Hollywood. His bail was set at $36,000.
Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7:06 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue regarding a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim, who said he was assaulted by someone he knew who was currently sitting in Palisades Park. Officers said they saw a roughly 2-inch cut on the victim’s wrist. The victim said the assault took place somewhere in Downtown in the early morning hours. The suspect was located in the 1400 block of Palisades Park and positively identified by the victim. He was placed under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and a probation violation. The suspect was identified as Anthony Alexander, 41, of Los Angeles. No bail was set. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Thursday, Oct. 20, at 11:27 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue — Loews Hotel — regarding an assault that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they detained the suspect and spoke with a security guard at the hotel, who told them that he was punched in the head by the suspect after he told him to leave the hotel. The suspect was allegedly sleeping on a bench right by the hotel entrance. The suspect was placed under arrest for assault and battery. While being booked, the suspect allegedly provided officers with a bogus name, so he was hit with an additional charge of providing false information to a police officer. He was identified as Jeremy Kinard, 33, a transient. His bail was set at $20,000.
