Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 4:30 p.m.,
Santa Monica officers responded to the 1600 block of Sixth Street regarding a report of an auto burglary that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who told officers that he left his vehicle secured in the garage located beneath his apartment building. When he returned to his car the next day, he discovered that his driver’s side front door handle was removed and the window smashed. The contents of his glove box were strewn about inside the car. A GPS device was missing along with an iPod charger and connection cord. No suspects were seen and the loss was valued at $450. Forensics technicians were able to lift prints from the vehicle and a suspect was identified and arrested by Santa Monica police officers on Feb. 18 at the Airport Courthouse after he was released on unrelated charges. The suspect was identified as Justin Craig Marshall, 25, of Venice. He was booked for burglary and a probation violation. No bail was set.
Sunday, Feb. 14, at 11:36 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 500 block of California Avenue regarding a strong arm robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who told officers she was walking eastbound on California when she felt two tugs on the purse she was carrying with the strap wrapped around her wrist. She turned and saw a suspect walking directly behind her. When she faced forward again, the suspect allegedly pulled the purse from her hand and fled into an adjacent alley. The victim followed the suspect for a brief time before he ran between two apartment buildings. A witness who was walking with the victim was able to provide police with a description of a vehicle she saw speeding away from the area, as well as additional details about the suspect. Another witness who was walking his dog in the area also saw the robbery and the suspect leaving in a vehicle being driven by a woman. The witness jumped into his car and followed the suspects to the area of Seventh Street and Georgina Avenue. At that time, the male suspect got out of the car and pointed a handgun at the witness, ordering him not to follow them. The witness was able to get the license plate number of the get-away car. Using that information, officers were able to locate the car in Los Angeles. The vehicle was impounded and processed for evidence. Forensics technicians were able to lift fingerprints which led to the service of a search warrant on Feb. 18. Two suspects were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and a parole violation. They were identified as Freda Denise Rivers, 29, and Felton Love, Jr. 36; both of Los Angeles. Rivers was booked solely for robbery. Her bail was set at $50,000. Love was not eligible for bail.
Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 2:16 p.m.
Officers responded to the 2300 block of Lincoln Boulevard regarding a report of vandalism that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with a victim who told officers they asked the occupants of a white van to move because it was blocking access to their property. When the occupants refused, the victim began to write down their license plate number, at which point a man walked toward the victim, challenging him to a fight. A co-worker observed what was happening and picked up the phone so that the suspect would think he was calling the police. At that point, a female suspect approached the co-worker and violently ripped the phone cord, knocking the phone from his hands, police said. Officers were able to locate the suspects and their van in the Albertson’s parking lot located in the 2600 block of Lincoln Boulevard. They were placed under arrest. The suspect were identified as Dominic Aaron Prampin, 42, from Los Angeles, and Crystal Snow White, 22, of Granada Hills. Prampin was booked for disturbing the peace, trespassing and a probation violation. His bail was set at $10,000. White was booked for illegally removing a telephone line, trespassing and a probation violation. Her bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 12:16 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf — regarding a report of vandalism. When officers arrived, they made contact with store employees who said they saw the suspect etching a window with an unknown tool. Officers located the suspect nearby and he was positively identified by witnesses. The suspect was arrested for vandalism. He was identified as Yonothan Zekiros, 19, a transient. His bail was set at $20,000.
Friday, Feb. 19, at 9:40 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1600 block of California Avenue regarding a report of someone illegally removing recyclables from City Hall-issued bins. Officers located a suspect near 15th Street who was carrying a black trash bag. The suspect allegedly cut through an apartment complex, causing officers to lose sight of him. Officers eventually spotted the suspect about five minutes later in the area of 14th Street and California. They stopped him and asked him about the trash bag. The suspect allegedly admitted that he was on parole and that he hid in the bushes while watching the officers look for him. Officers located a crack pipe and a container of Mace in the suspect’s possession, police said. The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia and a parole violation. The suspect was identified as James Everett Means, 54, of Los Angeles. No bail was set.
