The Department of Public Health reminds L.A. residents to visit www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/beach or call (800) 525-5662 before heading to the beach. Ocean water is tested up to five times a week in order to provide up-to-date reports on water quality and sewage spills.
“Accurate knowledge about the cleanliness of L.A. County beaches will give you and your family peace of mind,” said director of public health Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, in a press release. “You should not have to worry about the water that you’re enjoying.”
Safely celebrate National Clean Beaches Week on July 1 - 7 by observing the following precautions: wear sunscreen, swim near an on-duty lifeguard and stay at least 100 feet away from rocks and piers.
