Bail has been set at $2 million for Victory Nguyen, a 41-year-old self-employed chef, after he fired numerous rounds — estimated between 30 and 50 — from the rooftop of an apartment building in Marina del Rey while livestreaming the event on social media.

The Los Angeles Sheriff Department’s (LASD) Information Bureau reported that deputies responded to gunshots at the Pearl Apartments on the 4100 block of Via Marina around 10:15pm Saturday. Upon arrival, deputies encountered active gunfire from the rooftop.

Authorities quickly secured the area, closing surrounding streets including Via Dolce and Via Marina south of Washington Boulevard, and issued shelter-in-place orders to residents. According to LASD Sgt. Tim Gannon of the Marina del Rey station, an Aero Unit spotted Nguyen on the rooftop, actively firing a rifle. He was reportedly armed with several firearms, including AR-15 rifles and multiple pistols, and was seen reloading multiple times during the incident.

Additional personnel and equipment, including four Bearcat vehicles, were deployed as law enforcement agencies coordinated a response. Nguyen was eventually apprehended by an arrest team and taken into custody without further incident around 1am Sunday.

No injuries have been reported following the shooting. Deputies continue to canvass the area for evidence, witnesses, and any potential victims. The Marina del Rey sheriff’s station is urging anyone with information to come forward and contact them at 310-482-6000.
