Training: On Friday, June 24, the Santa Monica Fire and Police Departments conducted an active threat training at John Adams Middle School. The objective was to train local first responders and test their response to high-risk, complex events involving multiple agencies and potentially multiple victims. According to SMPD, training on real properties such as local schools is critical for responders as it provides hands-on experience. The intensive training allows responders to learn the limits of their equipment and tactics in an educational and non-emergency environment before lives are on the line.
