Safe Place for Youth invites the public to join them for their Safe Place for Youth, 6th Annual Gala at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel, Santa Monica on Thursday June 9 to raise vital funds to provide a caring connection and housing for 1,000 unhoused and at-risk young people annually. The Safe Place for Youth 6th Annual Gala will take place under the historic fig tree in front of the hotel with live music, food, specialty cocktails and a silent auction.
The event will honor Los Angeles City Councilmember, Mike Bonin and Specialty Family Foundation for their unwavering commitment to Safe Place for Youth and unhoused youth in our community.
“I am humbled and deeply moved to receive this honor from Safe Place for Youth, a tremendous organization doing the work of angels. I have worked with SPY since its early days and share its fierce commitment to our unhoused youth. SPY’s mission is righteous, and its work is transformative,” said Bonin.
“At Specialty Family Foundation we look for heroes on a mission to replace conditions that lead to poverty with conditions that lead instead to hope and opportunity. We seek organizations with the audacity to believe that the way things should be, can be. We know of no investment made in our Foundation’s history that fits this description more than our many investments in Safe Place for Youth (SPY). SPY’s urgent, compassionate, and seemingly boundless approach to meeting the needs of our region’s young unhoused community members is a “light in the darkness” of our region’s housing crisis and a proof point of hope for each and every life SPY touches,” said Joe Womac, President of Specialty Family Foundation
This event will take place outside so please dress accordingly. Cocktail attire.
“Safe Place for Youth’s annual gala is a special evening of celebration and support for SPY’s life- saving and life-affirming work. Each year, our dedicated team serves over 1,000 youth experiencing homelessness, by providing a comprehensive array of supportive services and housing, and by empowering our youth members to thrive. With close to 5,000 youth experiencing homelessness in LA County, on any given night, raising awareness and supporting unhoused young people is more important than ever. But we can’t do this work alone, which is why we are so thrilled to be able to bring together our community of supporters and honor two incredible champions who have made our work possible: Councilman Mike Bonin and the Specialty Family Foundation. I am very much looking forward to a fantastic event and night to remember, as our community comes together to end youth homelessness,” said Erika Hartman, Executive Director, Safe Place for Youth.
