The Santa Monica College Music Department will present the SMC Concert Chorale and SMC Chamber Choir in a live performance of “Mindful Gratitude: Beyond….” The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 19, in The Broad Stage at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard).

Under the direction of Jeremiah Selvey, intentional gratitude grips the hearts and energizes the voices of the SMC Choirs as they perform in person for the first time in two years. The program will present choral music that expresses deliberate, positive reflections as society moves beyond the challenges and victories of the pandemic and social unrest of the past year and a half. The concert features several premieres, including two by SMC student composers Isabel Van Aalst and Naveed Perkins and four by guest composer Sherry Blevins. A Q&A session with the composers will be held after the concert.

Tickets are $15 (see smc.edu/choirevents for details). Free parking on premises. Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.

An I.D. and proof of vaccination (or negative test within 72 hours of the event) must be presented to attend the event. Masks are required at all times.
