A 17-year-old female was arrested this week for attempted murder after a downtown stabbing.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, officers were called to the area of 5th and Broadway at about 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 26 for a reported knife attack.

Multiple units and a forensics team were dispatched to the call with the first officers on scene requesting the Santa Monica Fire Department respond for medical assistance. The victim was alert, although stabbed multiple times, and was able to provide a description of the suspect who had fled the scene.

During the investigation, SMPD Officers interviewed multiple witnesses and located a suspect a few blocks away that matched the description provided. The suspect was taken into custody and booked for Attempted Murder. She was transported to a juvenile detention center, pending charges.

Lt. Rudy Flores said the woman had no known relationship with the victim and is not homeless.

Anyone with additional information pertaining to this incident is strongly encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 310-458-8451 or the Santa Monica Department’s Watch Commander (24 hours) at 310-458-8427.
