Santa Monica Place and Macerich will match up to $15,000 in donations to the Santa Monica Education Foundation. This marks their eighth year of supporting the Ed Foundation. The matching funds will be offered from October 18-22, 2021, coinciding with the Ed Foundation’s Pledge Week, a week-long campaign to encourage families and the community to invest in Santa Monica’s public school students.

“We are honored to support our local public schools with a gift to the Santa Monica Education Foundation,” said Julia B. Ladd, Assistant Vice President, Property Management at Santa Monica Place. “Nothing is more important than a good education, and we are thrilled to be a part of this community’s effort to educate its students. With this matching gift, we hope to inspire others to join us and invest in our youth.”

This matching gift brings Santa Monica Place/Macerich’s total commitment to Santa Monica schools to $157,500 over the last eight years. Their commitment goes beyond financial contributions, having shown support through many meaningful and in-kind gifts as well.

Money raised during Pledge Week will fund arts programs, elementary classroom aides, STEM, and student health and wellness programs in Santa Monica public schools. During the week, Ed Foundation staff and Board members, as well as school leaders and volunteers, will be at many Santa Monica schools to encourage families to join the community-wide effort of supporting students.

“We are excited to kick off Pledge Week with this generous matching gift from Santa Monica Place and Macerich,” said Alison Havel, President of the Ed Foundation’s Board of Directors. “It is wonderful that they have continued their years-long financial support of the Ed Foundation, even during challenging times like this. We are grateful for their inspiring commitment to excellence in Santa Monica schools.”
