The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education will hold a special board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 5 p.m. via Zoom for members of the public and most staff and at the district office for board members and executive staff.

The purpose of the meeting is for the board to conduct a Brown Act training refresh as well as discuss strategies to increase board meeting efficiency and effectiveness.

Such retreats are considered best practices for governing boards, especially when there are new members, of which SMMUSD’s Board of Education has two.

The board will also hold a closed session that day at 4:30 p.m.
The next regular board meeting will be on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 5:30 p.m.

This agenda for the special meeting will be posted on the district’s website. The link to the Zoom meeting can be found at the top of the agenda.
