Henderson (1937-2001) was an American tenor saxophonist and composer revered in the jazz world and a pioneer in jazz fusion. During his career of more than 40 years at the forefront of the contemporary jazz scene, he performed with most of the jazz greats of his time, including Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, and Herbie Hancock, and also performed for a short time with Blood, Sweat & Tears. Many of Henderson’s tunes are recognized and performed by almost every jazz student today.
