On Friday, March 13 a woman clutching a small purse and tugging pink luggage behind her walked into Holy Grounds and demanded the cashier at the counter give up his cell phone or be shot. The quick-thinking victim explained his phone was out of his reach and requested permission to retrieve it from the adjacent room. Once in the lobby, the victim quickly contacted SMPD and reported a robbery in progress. As with any good witness, he was able to describe the suspect who was later found exiting Holy Grounds upon officers’ arrival. Although the suspect claimed to have a gun, no weapon was seen or found when she was taken into custody. The suspect, Amanda Carmella Kerr, 30 years old from Florida, was charged with attempted robbery at the time of arrest. Bail was set at $50,000.
