On December 5, at approximately 2 p.m.

Officers were in the area of 1200 block of 2nd Street, when they observed a male subject removing refuse from a City trashcan in violation of the municipal code. Officers detain the subject who provided a false name to the officers. The subject’s true identity was determined and he was found to be on active parole for assault with a deadly weapon. A parole violation was issued and he was taken into custody without incident. Joshua Kekoa Baird, 26, homeless, was arrested for theft of recycling, false identification and a parole violation. He was denied bail.

  2. I would like to know how Crime Watch benefits readers. Is this article to alert readers that crimes occur, which everyone already knows? This article stigmatizes the homeless, with the stigma already a problematic component of the discussion. Further this article does so for the petty crime of “removing refuse from a City trashcan.”
