Two new records were set at the 10th annual Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) Charity Golf Classic with more than $135,000 raised by over 170 golfers to help support Santa Monica PAL programs on Monday, June 10, at the Mountain Gate Country Club in Los Angeles.
Frank Buckley, co-anchor of KTLA Morning News, participated in the 10th Annual PAL Charity Golf Classic tournament, and Kacey Montoya, reporter at KTLA, was the emcee at the awards banquet. The winning golf team was Matt Barzman, Jeff Wells, Craig Currie and Jeffrey Wells.
A wide array of Santa Monica community members turned out in support of PAL, including many Santa Monica Police officers and local business people. The event also included an awards ceremony and silent auction. All funding received from the tournament directly supports PAL educational initiatives such as post-high school educational scholarships through the Chris Carrey PAL Education Fund as well as enhancing fitness, cultural and technology programs offered to Santa Monica youth at the PAL Youth Center and Fitness Gym.
“Santa Monica Police Department and community far exceed expectations each year in support of PAL and the programs that benefit Santa Monica youth,” said Eula Fritz, Director at Santa Monica Police Activities League. “Now in its 10th year, the PAL Charity Golf Classic has become our premier event and most successful for the organization. Our sincere thanks to everyone that participates, sponsors and works on the event each year.”
Major tournament sponsors included The Huntley Hotel Santa Monica Beach, Douglas Emmet Properties, Activision, Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, Thomas Kasra, Santa Monica Police Officers Association and Southern California Disposal & Recycling Company.
The PAL 2019 Golf Classic Committee was made up of the PAL Board of Directors, City and Police Officials and community leaders. Through the committee’s tremendous efforts and hard work, they were able to set new records for tournament proceeds and participation.
